  • Welcome to Turkey, a land where some of the first Christian communities were born and where important pages of the history of Christianity were written.
  • Reception at Smyrna Adnan Menderes International Airport (ADB) by our English-speaking representative. We will immediately begin our pilgrimage through the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse, mentioned in the Book of Revelation of Saint John the Evangelist.
  • Our first stop will be Pergamon (Bergama), one of the most important cities of early Christianity and home to one of the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse (Revelation 2:12-17). We will visit the impressive Acropolis of Pergamon, the Temple of Trajan, the spectacular Hellenistic Theater, the ruins of the ancient library and the monumental Red Basilica (Kızıl Avlu), considered by many scholars as the place where the Christian community of Pergamon gathered. Here we will remember the testimony of Saint Antipas, venerated as the first martyr of this Church.
  • We will continue to Thyatira (Akhisar), another of the churches mentioned in the Apocalypse (Revelation 2:18-29). This city is known for having been the place of origin of Lydia, the purple cloth merchant converted by Saint Paul during his second missionary journey (Acts 16:14).
  • After visiting the main archaeological remains and learning about the message directed to the Church of Thyatira, we will return to Smyrna, the city where Saint Polycarp, disciple of Saint John the Evangelist and one of the Apostolic Fathers of the Church, carried out his ministry.
  • Dinner and accommodation in Smyrna.

We will visit its impressive Roman gymnasium, the synagogue and the archaeological remains that testify to the importance of this city in antiquity.
  • We will then head to Philadelphia (Alaşehir), one of the two churches that received only words of praise in the Book of Revelation (Revelation 3:7-13). Here we will recall the message of perseverance and faithfulness directed by Saint John to the Christian community.
  • Our next stop will be Laodicea, one of the most prosperous cities of Asia Minor and the setting for the well-known message: "Because you are neither cold nor hot..." (Revelation 3:14-22). We will visit the recent archaeological excavations, which include churches, monumental streets, theaters and public buildings that reveal the splendor of this important Christian city.
  • In the afternoon we will arrive at Hierapolis, where, according to tradition, the Apostle Saint Philip was martyred. We will visit the Martyrion of Saint Philip, the Roman theater, the great necropolis and the famous white travertine terraces of Pamukkale, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Dinner and accommodation in Pamukkale.

  • We will continue to the House of the Virgin Mary, a sanctuary recognized by the Catholic Church as the place where the Virgin Mary spent her last years with Saint John the Evangelist. This sacred place has been visited by several Popes and is one of the main Marian pilgrimage centers in the world.
  • Our pilgrimage will conclude with a visit to the Basilica of Saint John, built over the tomb of the apostle who wrote the fourth Gospel and the Book of Revelation. This sanctuary is one of the most venerated places of early Christianity and a symbol of the expansion of faith in Asia Minor.
